Harold (Hg) Myers

Harold (HG) Myers went home to be with his Lord, wife and many friends and family in Heaven on April 21, 2022.  He would have been 96 years old in June.  He said before he passed away “I was going to live to be 112, but I don’t think I will make it. I’m ready to go home to Heaven.”

Harold was born in Columbus, Kansas in Cherokee County to Eva and Ervin Myers in 1926. He married Neva Burris in August 1946. Harold and Neva were married for 72 years before she preceded him in death in 2018.

Harold was drafted into the Army and stationed at Brooks Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX from 1952-1954 during the Korean era as an SP4. He was honorably discharged from the Army reserves in 1960. Neva and Harold moved to Amarillo in 1954 and later built a house in the country where they had cats, dogs, chickens, goats, and donkeys. They showed hospitality to countless people who loved to visit them in their peaceful sanctuary. They traveled to several places in the world, supported many missionaries and were active in their church.  He was proudly known as GGPa to many children that he and Neva loved and cared for throughout the years.

Harold sold insurance for many years and then worked at Everett’s Plumbing in Amarillo for 22 years as Service Manager. He attended Massage Therapy school at age 70 and graduated as an RMT.  He worked at Myers Massage from 1996-2012 and was a member of the Panhandle Area Massage Therapists. Harold and Neva moved to the Continental apartments in 2013.  He was a man of faith, quiet, friendly, kind, patient, hospitable, dedicated, and easy-going. He had a stroke in 2020 that affected his sight and mind, but he continued to play dominoes with Laurie and her mother until a couple of weeks before he passed away. He said, “I pray every morning to my Lord.”  His hope for whoever reads this is that they would repent of their sin, ask Jesus into their hearts and join him in Heaven someday.  He entered the presence of Jesus with a sound mind and walking again.

He was preceded in death by his wife, 3 siblings, Ervin, Lucille and Donald as well as 2 nephews Dennis Myers and Lee Myers. He is his survived by his nieces Joann Kelley of Texas, Debra Froebe of Kansas, Margaret Barden of Arizona, Nancy Connolly of Arizona, Diana Pittman of Kansas, Debbie Brooks of Kansas, LeAnn Paine of Missouri, and nephews Gale Bowers of Arizona, William Myers of Georgia, Tom Burris of Wyoming, Frank Burris of Virginia, Wayne Burris of Montana, Harold Wayne Pittman of Florida, Dennis Pittman of Kansas, “adopted granddaughter” Laurie Hale and her family of Amarillo, Melanie Beasley and family of Duncan, OK, Barbara Hale of Amarillo, special friends Sunit and John Meyers of North Carolina, their son Matimon Sae Eai of Amarillo, and Ed and Millie Cameron of Millsap, TX.
