Glenna Ruth (Bell) Bremer, 98, of Amarillo, TX died Wednesday, December 14, 2022.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 17, 2022, at First Baptist Church with Dr. Howard K. Batson officiating. Burial will be private. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Glenna was born September 15, 1924, in Lone Grove, OK to Ed and Gertrude Bell.
Glenna served as the first female director of the Baptist Student Union at Amarillo College and the first female chaplain at BSA Hospital (formerly High Plains Baptist Hospital).
She married John F. Bremer, Jr., on November 21, 1945. At the time of his death on February 3, 2021, they had been married for 75 years.
She also was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, and three brothers.
Survived by two daughters: Carole Lara and husband, Art, of Amarillo and Jan Butterworth and husband, Isaac, of Wichita Falls; four grandchildren: Zack Lara of San Francisco, California; Matt Lara and wife, Crystal, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Jonathan Butterworth and wife, Becky, of Austin; and Catherine Williams and husband, Scott, of Austin; six great grandchildren; and one niece, Wanda Damon, and husband, Robert, of Amarillo.
The family thanks the staff of Ussery-Roan Texas State Veterans Home of Amarillo and the staff of Kinder Hearts Hospice of Amarillo.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Baptist Student Ministries at Amarillo College or the Baptist Student Ministries at West Texas A&M University.
