Glenn was born July 20, 1948, in Amarillo, TX to Bill and Frances Gerber. He married Vickie Barnett on August 30, 1969, in Umbarger. Glenn owned and operated a foundation drilling business until he retired in 2017.
Glenn worked hard all his life, whether it was on the farm with his parents and siblings or on his rig. He had a brilliant mind that allowed him to fix just about anything, even the foundation of his own home. He was the most patient and loving man anyone could ask for and was like a second dad to many.
If you knew Glenn, you knew his strength and resilience. He overcame countless illnesses and injuries—polio as a child, brain surgery, and a kidney transplant, to name just a few. He truly was the BEST storyteller, and his laugh was unforgettable. Glenn never knew a stranger, and carried a gentle, compassionate spirit. He adored his wife, daughters, and grandchildren—and they adored him right back.
We have peace knowing he is now reunited with his mom and dad, other loved ones, and his Lord and Savior, Jesus. He left us a legacy of love, faith, and strength that will remain in our hearts forever. We look forward to the day we are reunited with him.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Tommy and Billy Gerber; a sister, Janice Wieck; and a great-grandchild, Rayf.
Survivors include his wife, Vickie Gerber, of the home; four daughters, Sandy Chado and husband Jeff “Todd”, of Canyon, TX, Michele Koelzer and husband Koby, Melissa Gerber, and Cheryl Gonzales and husband Jeremy, all of Amarillo, TX; two brothers, Don Gerber and wife Theresa, of Amarillo, TX, and Kenneth Gerber and wife Terrie, of Dalhart, TX; four sisters, Romilda Friemel, of Hereford, TX, Carolyn Wieck and husband Jim, of Dalhart, TX, Sharon Gerber, of Umbarger, TX, and Linda Moore and husband Kenneth, of Georgetown, TX; grandchildren, Sarah, Quinn (Hailee), Erin, Brandon (Adi), Clay (Merrin), Averi, Emily, Corbyn (Zoey), Haela (Omar), Lexi, Jude, and Ava; and eight great-grandchildren.
