Glenn Dean Simpson, 64, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on September 21, 2023 in New Mexico.
Services will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at two o’clock in the afternoon at Hillside Christian Church, West Campus, 6100 Soncy, with Pastor Greg Corona officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Boulevard.
Glenn was born on July 18, 1959 in Elizabeth, New Jersey to W.H. “Bill” and Marlene Simpson, and excited big brother Billy. The family moved to Amarillo the next year. Glenn graduated from Amarillo High School in 1977, and earned his Automechanic and HVAC degrees from Amarillo College.
He married the love of his life, Pamela Sue Eytcheson, on August 27, 1983, and they recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. In 1986, their daughter, Lisa, came into the world, and has been her daddy’s little girl ever since. Glenn worked alongside his dad in several family businesses, including Simpson Homes, Amarillo Satellite and TV, and Simpco Land and Cattle in Hereford.
Glenn was a member of the BPOE Elks Lodge #923, Palo Duro Masonic Lodge #1239 and was also very active in the Khiva Shrine in Amarillo. He became a Master Mason in 2010, later serving as Potentate of the Khiva Shrine and President of the Texas Shrine Association in 2019. At the time of his death, he was the President of the Khiva Shrine Cycle Escort.
Glenn never met a stranger, was a jack-of-all-trades, always with an outrageous story to tell, often over a poker game. He was a devoted husband, father, son, and brother who will be missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his father W.H. “Bill” Simpson (2019). He is survived by his wife Pam, and daughter Lisa, both of Amarillo; mother Marlene of Amarillo; brother Billy Simpson and wife Connie of Amarillo; in-laws LeRoy and Jeanette Eytcheson of Manteno, Illinois; and three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law of Illinois and Indiana; as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and countless friends.
In honor of Glenn, the family suggests memorials to the Khiva Shrine Travel Fund, 305 SE 5th St., Amarillo, Texas 79101.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, September 25th, 2023, from 5:00-6:30 PM.
