Glenda Joyce Scarborough

September 7, 1940 — April 28, 2024

Amarillo

Glenda Scarborough was born in Tulia, TX, on September 7, 1940, to Tom and Norma Scarborough. She was the oldest of five daughters. She passed into heaven on April 28, 2024, at the age of 83. She spent most of her life in Amarillo, though she lived a few years in Hawaii and Dallas, Amarillo is where she called home.

After finishing high school in Amarillo, she then attended West Texas State University to get her Accounting degree, the first person in her family to attend college and get a degree. She loved her family, spending many vacations driving a motor home with whichever sisters, nephews, and nieces were available to wander the country with her and Grandma (her mother, Norma). These trips became known as ‘Camp Grandma’ to all, and she was the captain of the RV.

She was a firm believer in God, and His son Jesus, spending many hours in church and with her church family. It was not uncommon to hear the ‘bible channel’ on the radio wherever you went in her house.

Her favorite pastime, other than family, was playing games such as Scrabble or Canasta, reading romance novels, and watching mysteries on TV. She also spent many years on a bowling league team, enjoying the camaraderie and competition.

Glenda is preceded in death by her parents Tom & Norma Scarborough, sister Carolyn Robertson, and nephew Jeff Parton.

Glenda is survived by sisters Janice Leos, Wanda Scarborough, and Donna Voss. Nephews and nieces Tommy Robertson, Mark & Kim Robertson, Kristin Parton, Phil & Dawn Parton, Leslie Robertson, Tim & Jana Barrett, Aaron & Arianne Voss, Andy & Ice Barrett, and Andrea Voss. Along with numerous great-nephews, great-nieces, and great-great nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 1:30 pm, Saturday, May 4, 2024 in Anna St. Church of Christ with Lyndon Latham, minister, officiating.  Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Glenda’s name to either Anna Street Church of Christ (Amarillo, TX) or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
