Gladys McGlasson Morris, 88, a longtime resident of Amarillo, died Friday, January 11, 2013.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, January 14, 2013, in the Sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Howard Griffin officiating. Family burial will be held in Llano Cemetery under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. The family will visit with friends at the reception following the service.
Mrs. Morris was born on November 17, 1924, in Waco, Texas, to Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Eugene McGlasson. Her family moved to Amarillo in 1938. She was a graduate of Amarillo High School and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Baylor University. Gladys McGlasson married Edward Stanton Morris on August 28, 1946, in Amarillo.
Mrs. Morris was a member of First Presbyterian Church Amarillo, the Amarillo Junior League, and of the J.U.G. Club. She served on the Fund Raising Committee of the Amarillo Museum of Art, prior to its construction, and as a member of the Board of Directors for the Children’s Psychiatric Center.
She is survived two sons; E. Stan Morris, Jr. and wife Kathy, Joe M. Morris and wife Elaine, all of Amarillo, five grandchildren; Edward S. Morris, III, Joe Sterling Morris, II, Jordan Morris Ware, Joe M. Morris, Jr. and Claire Morris, and three great-grandchildren; Noah Morris, Jules Morris and Liam Ware.
The family requests that rather than sending flowers, memorials be made in the form of contributions to Opportunity School, 1100 S. Harrison, Amarillo, TX 79101, the Amarillo College Foundation, P.O. Box 447, the Presbyterian Children’s Home – TLC Endowment Fund, 3400 S. Bowie, Amarillo, TX 79109; or to donor’s favorite charity.
