Gilbert R. Valverde, 80, of Amarillo died Tuesday, September 4, 2018.
Prayer services will be at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, September 6, 2018, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 7, 2018, at St. Matthew United Methodist Church with Rev. Manny Burgos officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Gilbert was born February 10, 1938, in Amarillo to Salomon and Conferina Valverde. He worked as a master carpenter for Western Builders for more than twenty-five years. Gilbert also worked as a foreman for Potter County Road & Bridge Construction until retirement. He was a member of the local Carpenters Union. Gilbert was brought up Methodist and remained Methodist all his life. He was strong and loved by many. A loving husband and a good provider.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Amelia “Molly” Valverde; daughters, Darlene Ochoa and husband Pete, Anna Moreno and husband Rudy, Selina Williams and husband Kevin, and Roberta Valverde; a brother, Carlos Valverde; two sisters, Aurora Padilla and Patricia Martinez; 9 grandchildren, Adrian Ochoa, Shaun Castro, Cole Young, Jaime Valverde, Alexandrew Valverde, Michelle Ochoa, Dominique Castro, Mariah Moreno, and Lauren Young; 19 great-grandchildren; 2 and great-great-grandchildren.
