Georgia Ester Kachiros

Georgia Kachiros, 90, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on March 2, 2025. 

The family will receive friends from 5–7 pm, Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M., Friday, March 7, 2025, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount Blvd. 

Georgia was born in Blue Rapids, Kansas on March 17, 1934, to Alice (Rowe) and Harry Thompson. She graduated from Valley Heights High School in Waterville, Kansas in 1952. She married Robert “Bob” Kachiros in December of 1952.

Georgia’s first job was as a telephone operator. This began her love for visiting with her friends and loved ones on the phone. She later worked as an office manager for Glazer’s Wholesale.

Georgia loved spending time with her sons and grandchildren. She was extremely close to all of her brothers and sisters.

Georgia loved to read, swim, do crossword puzzles, and play BINGO. She also enjoyed returning to her hometown high school every year for the school reunions. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Kachiros; her son, Robert “Bobby” Kachiros; granddaughter, Courtney Kachiros; and siblings, Harry Thompson, Jr., Roy Thompson, Rose Lemmons, Lola King, and Nela Runkle. 

She is survived by her son, Pete Kachiros and wife Marie, of Amarillo, Texas; grandchildren, Alicia Witkins and husband Jeff, of Aurora, Colorado, Anthony Kachiros and wife Dixie, of Dallas, Texas, Nick Kachiros and wife Carolyn, of Baldwinsville, New York, David Smith and wife Roselyn, of Northlake, Texas, and Chris Kachiros, of Amarillo, Texas; seven great-grandchildren, Stephen, Dylan, Luke, Katie, Alex, Logan, and Greylyn; brother, Tom Thompson, of Amarillo, Texas; sister, Dora Feck and husband Bill, of St. Petersburg, Florida; and companion, Ron Mahan.
