George Loren Megee

George Loren Megee, 89, of Amarillo TX, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2022.

A celebration of life service, with military honors, will be at 2:00 P.M., Monday, December 19, 2022, at Oasis Southwest Baptist Church, 8201 Canyon Dr., Amarillo, TX.

George was born to George Washington Megee and Grayce Holcomb Megee on December 7, 1933, in Fairfax, OK. He graduated from Oklahoma State at Stillwater, OK in 1955.

He came to know Christ as his Savior in 1941 at 8 years of age in Little Chief, OK.

George was a US Army Veteran serving for over 11 years and attaining the rank of Major. He received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star for Valor for his service in Vietnam.

He was a school teacher and taught for many years in small communities in Oklahoma, Colorado, New Mexico, and Texas. Later in life, he worked as a custodian for the AISD and the US post office.

George married the love of his life, Maxine Shidaker, in 1994.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Megee, his parents, George and Grayce Megee,

and his brother, Otis Wayne Megee.

George leaves behind four sisters, Janelle (Carl) Neal of Owasso, OK, Joyce McCollom of Lawton, OK, Gloria (Tommy) Brown of Farmington, NM, Linda (Larry) Aimes of Magnolia, TX, a brother, Michael (Nancy) Megee of Amarillo, TX, and sister-in-law, Judie Megee of Overland Park, KS.
