George Franklin Arnold, Sr., 84, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, May 2, 2012.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 5, 2012, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Dr. G.A. Roach officiating. Burial will be in Llano East Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mr. Arnold was born October 16, 1927, in Sulphur Springs to Lee and Lillie Arnold. He had a lengthy career as a bricklayer, receiving a gold card and life pin for 50 consecutive years in the International Union of Bricklayers. After retirement, he spent all of his time outdoors gardening and crafting church models. Mr. Arnold was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by a son, George Franklin Arnold, Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma Arnold of Amarillo; three daughters, Susan Kaye Thomas and Darlene Dunn, both of Dallas, and Christine Cardenas of Amarillo; a son, Edward Arnold of Amarillo; a sister, Edna Trenhil of Colorado; four brothers, Clemie Arnold, Bill Arnold, Kenneth Arnold and David Arnold, all of Arizona; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
