Mr. Sides was born July 23, 1960, in Amarillo to Gerald Ray and Jo Sides. He graduated from Vega High School. He was an engineer for BNSF since May 2001. He also worked as a farmer and rancher around the Vega area as well as at the Farmer’s Elevator in Dawn.
Gary never met a stranger. He was our brother and best friend – always ready to lend a hand. Always on standby with one of his jokes, Gary had the biggest, kindest heart and was quick to laugh. He was always the first to arrive and help at the holidays and the last to leave when all was done. He loved fishing, arrowhead hunting, his family and spending time with them.
Survivors include his wife Stacie Sides, of the home; his parents, Jo and Gerald Ray Sides of Vega; a son, Shannon Sides and wife Shawna of Canyon; a daughter, Keshia Babitzke and husband Jason of Amarillo; three stepchildren, Kinsey Hall of Amarillo, Krista and Travis Caringer of Ft. Bragg, NC, and William and Lucy Martin of Lawton, Okla.,; three grandchildren, Brooklyn, Brynen, and Kenzlie, who shares his same birthday; two brothers, Harold Sides and wife Shirley and Danny Sides and wife Ronda, all of Wildorado; a sister, Tammy Hubbart and husband Russ of Vega; a friend of thirty-two years, Dana Sides; and numerous nieces and nephews.
