Gail Russell

Gail Russell, 76, of Amarillo, TX died Sunday, July 30, 2023.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 3, 2023, at Trinity Methodist Church, 3402 S. Jackson St., with Rev. Heath Gaines officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Gail was born November 30, 1946, to E.L. and Helen (Pierce) Bingham, in San Angelo, TX, where she grew up.   She married her high school sweetheart, Jack Rodney Russell, on May 29, 1965, in San Angelo, and had been married for fifty-three years at the time of his death.

Gail loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, and extended family, and was the glue that held everyone together.

She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and received a longevity pin for her many years of membership.  She was a great card player and played every Friday.  Gail loved her cat, Punkin.

She had a passion for shopping for jewelry, shoes, and clothing at one of her favorite stores, Stein Mart, until they closed their doors, which redirected her to online shopping for those items.  Her other favorite store to shop was Kirkland’s.  She was always looking to redecorate her home, she liked change and enjoyed picking out something new.  Gail was a frequent shopper on 6

th

Street, searching the antique stores for something unique.  Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren loved how she decorated for Christmas and were especially fond of one of her Santas.

Gail had a talent for being able to read a room and would lighten the mood if she felt it was in need of a little sunshine.  She was four foot ten and independent and would speak her mind.  Gail loved to keep busy and was always in motion.  She was the ride-or-die for her family and would go to bat for them.

She also was preceded in death by her sister, Kathy Swirczynski; daughter, Lisa Renee Harris; and son-in-law, Billy Harris.

Survivors include her daughter, Theresa Rhoden and husband Craig, of Borger, TX; grandchildren, David McIntosh and wife Hannah, Marci Harris, and Southern Shira; her brothers, Ronny Bingham, and David Bingham and wife Loraine; son-in-law, Billy Harris; and great-grandchildren, Finnley McIntosh, who is just 3 ½.
