Forrest James “Andy” Walters, 78, of Amarillo, Texas went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 14, 2024 

Memorial services will be at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Westview Christian Church with Pastor Russ Baker officiating. Military Honors will be provided by Volleys for Veterans and Patriot Guard Riders. 

Forrest was born in Amarillo, Texas on July 22, 1946, to Katherine Euginia (Givens) Walters and James Eugene Walters. He graduated with the first full graduating class at Caprock High School in 1965. While attending Caprock, he started in the school’s first football game. After high school graduation, he attended West Texas State University and then joined the United States Army. Forrest served in the Special Forces/Green Beret. During his service, he did over 78 jumps. 

Forrest married Betty Faye Tyler at Second Baptist Church in Amarillo, Texas on November 22, 1972. He cherished his relationship with the Lord, spending time with his family, and spending time with his friends sharing old stories. He also loved his dogs and Corvettes. 

Forrest worked as a banker for the first 20 years of his working career, and then for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for the last 10 years. 

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Survivors include his wife, Betty Walters; son, Michael Walters; son, Patrick Rutherford; and sister, Rocelia Garlick.
