Fabian Palitza, 82, of Amarillo, TX died Monday, December 30, 2024.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 6, 2025, in the sanctuary at First Baptist Church of Amarillo, with Dr. Howard K. Batson officiating. The rite of committal will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Llano Cemetery with Deacon Blaine Westlake officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Fabian was born August 14, 1942, to Clement & Josephine Palitza in Wilson County, Texas. He was raised between Falls City & Poth, and earned both an Undergraduate Degree in mathematics and a Master’s Degree in education from Southwest Texas State in San Marcos. Directly after college, he was hired by IBM to work in Amarillo, where he proudly worked for over 40 years.
While working in Amarillo, Fabian met Peggy Jones, and Fabian & Peggy married on November 27, 1971. Fabian and Peggy were happily married for 53 years and raised two daughters: Anne Marie & Sally.
Fabian enjoyed cooking, fishing, gardening, and raising and showing horses, first with Peggy, but also with his girls when they began to show in 4-H and AQHA, which became family events. He also loved to travel, and his favorites included family vacations to ski in New Mexico, family trips to Hawaii, or taking Peggy fishing for salmon and halibut in Alaska.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clem & Josie Palitza, and two brothers: Isidore Palitza & Alvin Palitza.
Survivors include his wife Peggy Palitza of Amarillo; two daughters: Anne Marie Wilkerson, and husband Eli, of Amarillo; and Sally Capra, and husband Donald, of Canyon; and 4 beloved grandchildren: Thomas Capra, Daniel Capra, Katherine Capra, and Claire Caroline Wilkerson.
He is also survived by Adrian & Lucy Palitza, of San Antonio; Lorine Palitza of Floresville, TX; Shirley Palitza of Falls City, TX; Liz & Al Helmke of Falls City, TX; Dorothy & Billy Stolle of Floresville, TX; and Mary & Gene Moczygemba of Falls City, TX; as well as many nieces & nephews and extended family.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Meals on Wheels of Amarillo, Children’s Miracle Network of Amarillo, or Samaritan’s Purse.
