Evelyn Rose Clements passed away Sunday August 12, 2018.

Evelyn was born in Muenster Texas on May 11th 1925.  She grew up in Hereford and attended the University of Texas on Scholarship before marrying James R Clements on December 29, 1945. They moved to the Middle Well area in 1957 and remained married for 54 years.  Together they had seven children, James Francis, Susan Marie, Michael Jerome, Brice Patrick, Michele Marie, Annette Marie, and Lawrence Edward.  She had 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Annette, and son Jim.

Evelyn was a school teacher for 20 years in Moore County.   She was the first teacher of computer math at Dumas High School and instructed UIL Academic teams.  After retiring, she continued to tutor students for years.  Evelyn was an active 4H sponsor, participated in county fairs with homemade jelly and quilts.  She was known for her homemade bread and cinnamon rolls that she made on Saturdays.

She was a founding member at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church and was active in church activities for many years.  Evelyn was personally committed to helping mothers in need and knitted baby blankets and caps for new mothers at Care Net of Dumas.  She knitted at least 1000 cap and blanket sets.

A Rosary Service will be held at 7:15 P.M. on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 900 Bruce Ave, Dumas, TX 79029. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Burial will be at Crowley Cemetery at 10:00 A.M on Friday August 17, 2018.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas, 500 N. Maddox Ave.

Donations can be made to Disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ Prayer town in Channing Texas.

    My condolences. Evelyn made a lovely gesture to reconnect with me in 2010, as I was in the Panhandle. With her passing it feels like so much of our family resource has vanished. Rest In Peace, Dear Evelyn.
