Esther Carter Shook entered into Glory with her Savior, Jesus Christ, Sunday, April 14, 2024, in Amarillo, Texas at the age of 94.  Born Esther Minnie Myers on August 6, 1929, in Cheltenham, Maryland, to Guy and Garnett (May) Myers, Esther was a devoted sister, beloved wife, cherished mother, adored grandmother and great-grandmother and dear friend.
Esther married Jack Raymond Carter and led a fulfilling life, dedicating herself to raising their four children as a stay-at-home mother. She also worked as a stenographer for Tinker US Air Force Base in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Her commitment to her family and her work was unwavering.  She was also a talented artist and painter, finding beauty in landscapes and mountains.  Esther regularly bequeathed drawings and paintings to those she loved. 
Throughout her long and impactful life, she served as a prayer warrior and a spiritual mother to many. Her steadfast devotion to Jesus was unmatched, inspiring everyone around her to rise up and pursue the kingdom of God. As a graduate of New Life Bible College School of Ministry, her fervor and love for Christ remained ever-present.
She is survived by her second husband of 22 years, Luther Edward “Ed” Shook, her sister, Claire Parker, her children Wade (Barbara) Carter, Randall “Randy” Carter, Jacqulyn "Jacquie" (Joe) Kirkwood, Christopher "Chris" Carter, as well as her grandchildren, Colby and Travis Carter, Kelly (Jay) Harris-Allen, Aaron (Nikki) Carter, Krista Lancaster, Kasey Trimble, Katie (Jared) McDaniel, Nathan Carter, and Whitney (Andy) Reed.  Great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Browning Harris, Peyton, Karsten, and Madison Allen, Emrey and Kenna Carter, Chase and Gage Robinson, Noah and Joshua Lancaster, Giovanni Trimble, Miles, Arden and Sloan McDaniel and Jack, Cecilia and Samuel Reed.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents, Guy H and Garnett L (May) Myers, her siblings Theola Griffin, Guy "Billy" Myers, Wayne "Buddy" Myers, Harriett Goldsmith, Roger Myers, and Lois Flanagan, her first husband Jack Carter.
Services will be at 4:00 p.m., Friday, April 19, 2024, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Joe Kirkwood officiating.  Inurnment will be at Arlington Memorial Cemetery in Midwest City, OK.
