Ellen was born on December 7, 1951, in Wichita Falls, TX to Charlie and Louise Guffey.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Louise Guffey; and her brothers, Howard, Larry, and Gary (Butch) Guffey.

Ellen is survived by three brothers, Charles Guffey, of Houma, LA, Gene Guffey, of Dallas, TX, and Carl Guffey, of Amarillo, TX; and three sisters, Barbara Wolfe, of LaVon, TX, Fran Whistler, of Plano, TX, and Millie Bingham, of Amarillo, TX. Ellen leaves behind a daughter, Brandi Smith and husband Matt, of Wylie, TX; son, Jake Sloan, of Amarillo, TX; daughter, Shiloh Stanley and husband Cole, of Amarillo, TX; son, Heath Sloan, of Amarillo, TX; and daughter, Linda Ramirez and husband Juan. Ellen was blessed with thirteen loving grandchildren. Ellen had so many nieces and nephews that loved her very much.

Ellen worked for Marty’s from the time they opened until they closed, over 25 years. She was known as “a professional hostess and server. Many of her customers referred to her as “the best server” they ever had. After Marty’s, Ellen worked for United Super Markets and Walmart.

Ellen had an infectious smile and a heart bigger than she was. She was known for taking in stray dogs from the time she was a little girl and continuing through her adult life.

Growing up with six brothers and three sisters, Ellen was the baby, and she took advantage of being number ten!!!

Ellen lost her battle with cancer but what a fight she put up! She told the family “I have a few more things I need to do so I will go out fighting this dreadful disease.” And she did to the end!!!

While our family will miss her dearly, we know there was a celebration when The Good Lord called her home. There to meet her at the Pearly Gates was Mother, Daddy, Howard, Larry, and Butch asking, “What took you so long to get here?”

Until we meet again, Rest in Peace with no more pain.
