Elizabeth Klara Alpar, 84, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, July 9, 2013.
Rosary will be said at 6:00 p.m., Friday, July 12, 2013, at St. Mary’s Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 13, 2013, in St. Mary’s Cathedral with Msgr. Harold Waldow officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mrs. Alpar was born March 11, 1929, in Kunhegyes, Hungary, to Imre and Maria Tamasi. She married Dr. John Alpar on Aug. 6, 1952, in Sopron, Hungary. Mrs. Alpar was an elementary school teacher, who later devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Constance Alpar in 1995.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. John Alpar, of the home; three sons, Andrew Alpar and wife Candace of Amarillo, Alan Alpar and wife Lynne of Ft. Worth and David Alpar and wife Melissa of Washington, D.C.; two daughters, Andrea Alpar of Amarillo and Anita Bray of Austin; a brother, Karl Tringl of Pennsylvania; seventeen grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
The family suggests memorials be made to Catholic Charities of Amarillo, P.O. Box 15127, Amarillo, Texas 79105; or to a favorite charity.
