Edward “Ed” John Braden, 81, of Amarillo, Texas passed away October 28, 2024.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 9, 2024, with Aaron Hill officiating at Coulter Road Baptist Church where he was a member. The burial will be at a later date at the Fort Sill National Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Ed was born in El Campo, Texas, on December 28, 1942, to the late Elvie Braden and late Bertha Meismer Braden. He graduated from El Campo, Texas High School. Subsequently, he attended Wharton County Junior College, Texas A&M University, and Texas Tech University. On August 25, 1979, he married Linda in Edmond, OK.
He served in the Army and was honorably discharged in 1969. For his career, he worked in the meat industry primarily working for Wilson Foods and Wright Brand Foods/Tyson Foods until his retirement in 2004.
Linda and Ed enjoyed travelling the United States. His favorite places were Grand Tetons, Rocky Mountain National Park, and Yellowstone National Park. He was a member of the Amarillo Volley for Veterans. Also, he enjoyed volunteering for the Amarillo Volleys for Veterans Honor Guards, playing bridge, visiting auctions/garage sales, and tinkering in his shop.
Ed is survived by his wife Linda, one son Paul Braden with wife Sara, and three step-grandchildren of Seabrook, TX.
Memorials can be made to BSA Hospice of the Southwest or Coulter Road Baptist Church.
