Edna Lois Meeks Stout, 91, of Dalhart, TX went to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 23, 2024.
Graveside services are at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 24, 2024, at Dalhart Memorial Park Cemetery with Ryan Strebeck pastor of Central United Methodist Church officiating. A reception will follow at Central United Methodist Church.
A memorial service is at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 25, 2024, in the chapel at First Presbyterian Church in Amarillo with Rev. Dr. Howard Griffin officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Edna was born in Logan, NM on October 1, 1932, to Omer and Orpha Meeks. The family eventually moved to Texas, and she graduated from Dalhart High School. She attended Draughon’s School of Business College in Amarillo.
Edna married Don Stout in 1953 and were married sixty-two years until his death in 2014.
She was an active member of Central Methodist Church where she also was a member of Friendship Circle Sunday School Class. She enjoyed teaching, playing piano, and held numerous positions for more than seventy years.
Edna was known for her strawberry and chocolate pies. She loved gardening, spending time with her family and friends, Bridge, traveling, and reading. She was a woman of deep faith, and her life advice was “do your best and enjoy every day.”
She is survived by her brother, Kenneth Meeks and wife Sandy, of Lubbock, TX, her children, Brad Stout and wife Karen, of Amarillo, TX, and Jeni Sanders and husband Gary, of Lubbock, TX; her grandchildren, Kelli and Chris Simdon, Kallan and Michael Ann Sanders, all of Frisco, TX, and Dylan and Taylor Hurt, both of Canyon, TX; and her step-grandchildren, Preston Jordan and Alex Jordan. Edna was proud of her five great-grandchildren, Jenner, Lola Grace, Henry, Lora, and new baby, Banks, and her step-great-grandchildren, Ean Easton and Case Hertel.
