Dwayne was born May 1, 1945 in Canyon, Texas to William and Stella Gresham. He graduated from Hereford High School, and worked at Santa Fe Railway for ten years in their engineering department reconstructing the Canadian River Bridge among other projects. Dwayne opened and operated Gresham & Associates, INC. for 45 years and was licensed in six states to include Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado, and Kansas. Dwayne was a member of the South Rotary Club and received their “Outstanding Service Award” for 1986-1987 along with the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International “Paul Harris Fellow”. He was President of the Panhandle Chapter 16 Texas Surveyors Association in 1981 and received the “Outstanding Service Donor” award in 2009 from the Amarillo Habitat for Humanity and volunteered with them for many years. Dwayne married Maria “Maggie” Garcia on September 6, 2003 in Santa Fe, N.M.
Dwayne enjoyed traveling with” The Love of his life, Maggie” and spending time with family and friends, playing golf, watching football, and going to Vermejo Park Ranch to do some fly fishing. Dwayne never knew a stranger, loved showering friends and family with his warm hospitality and made a mean margarita which he called “PDMs”……if you know, you know! Dwayne, the life of party, the sweetest friend, the provider and protector, and the best “Pappa Honey” will forever be missed.
He is survived by his wife Maggie Gresham; children Jonathan Gresham and wife Joie of Amarillo, TX, John Mariscal and wife Sonia Mariscal of Hereford, TX, Julie Szilveszter and husband Jeremy of Amarillo, TX, and Stephanie Escamilla and husband Jonathan of Hereford, TX; grandchildren, Micha, Mitchell, Nicholas, Neveah, Jazzlyne, A.J., Emily, and Milo; and great-grandchild, Iris.
