Donna "Lavene" Chinea

Donna “Lavene” Chinea, 70, of Amarillo, TX passed away October 21, 2024.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM, Monday, October 28, 2024 at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount with Dr. G. A. Roach officiating.  Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors. 

Lavene was born January 31, 1954 in Sayre, OK to Arzie Nabors and Athena Jefcoat. Lavene married George Chinea on August 24, 1970 in Amarillo. Together, they were married 54 years before her passing. Lavene worked as an office manager for A & G Plumbing for many years. 

Lavene loved wood carving, quilting, gardening, and fishing for trout. She was an extremely talented artist; chalk, watercolor, charcoal, drawings or paintings were her favorite. She had many opportunities to teach others how to bring out their talents in all things Art. Lavene also enjoyed mushrooming. She was able to identify a variety of mushrooms and cook with them! Lavene loved to swim, anything outdoors is where she was really happy!

She was preceded in death by her son, George Jr. in 2017; brother, Wayne Nabors; and sister, Lavon Isbell. 

Lavene is survived by her husband George Chinea; son, Adam Chinea; sister, Lydia True and husband Harold; brothers, Jimmy Nabors and wife Anne, Bily Nabors and wife Regina, and Rusty Nabors; grandchildren, Cheyenne, Michael, Conner, and Braylee; and 4 great-grandchildren.
