Dewey Gail Prather

Dewey Gail Prather, 73, of Amarillo, TX passed away August 18, 2024.

Memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors. 

Dewey was born May 14, 1951, in Amarillo, Texas to Dewey Andrew Prather and Wanda Jean Prather. He grew up in Amarillo and graduated from Amarillo High School. During the Vietnam War, he served with the U.S. Army's 101st Airborne Division. After returning home, he attended Amarillo College.

Dewey worked more than three decades for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier. He loved to sketch, draw cartoons, read, and make people laugh. He will be dearly missed by his friends and family.

Dewey is survived by his sons, Korey, Austin and Landon Prather; grandchildren Kyett, Kynlie, and Baustin Prather; his sister Shirley Forrester and her husband Don, his sister Betty Malone and her husband Jimmy; and his brother, Roger Prather.
