Dennis Howard Heggie, 76, of Amarillo, TX died peacefully Wednesday, April 10, 2024, in his home, surrounded by family.

Visitation with the family will be from 5-6:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Macy Myrick and Ethan Adamchak officiating.  Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Reception to follow at 5:00 p.m. at Life.Church. 

Dennis was born December 21, 1947, in Amarillo, TX to William and Mary Heggie. He grew up in a large family moving back and forth between Texas and Tennessee. He remained very close to his siblings throughout his life. He carried great pride for his 4 children and all of his grandchildren. He was the owner-operator of Dennis Heggie Roofing for over 50 years. He married Tamara Sue Heggie on July 28, 1984. They spent 43 years building a beautiful life together chasing storms, horses, and children. He enjoyed roofing, fishing, riding, playing poker and visiting with his buddies at the coffee shop but most of all he loved spending time with his family. In his final days he said, “my blessings keep getting bigger and bigger and bigger.”

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Clayborne Heggie and Mary Elizabeth McPherson; paternal grandparents, William Henry and Betty Sue Heggie; his maternal grandparents, Joel Walter and Floy Edith McPherson; and brothers, Alvin and Art Heggie.

Survivors include his wife, Tammy Heggie; children, Michael Ray Heggie and wife Anne, David Howard Heggie, Sara Beth Heggie Adamchak and husband John, Katie Denise Heggie Hack and husband Tyson; his grandchildren,  Justin Heggie,  Amie Heggie Ball and husband William, Ethan Adamchak, Landyn Hack, Tyler Hack, Xander Malone, Madeline Adamchak, Maxwell Adamchak, and Garrett Hack; sisters, Jerene Cutrell, Hulene Albred, Cathy Spencer, and Cheryl Cutrell and husband Mark; brothers, Floyd Heggie, and James Heggie and wife Debbie; and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
