Denise DePauw, 68, of Amarillo, TX, passed away on June 17, 2024. Denise was born on May 16, 1956, in Amarillo, TX, to Byron DePauw and Sharon Mills. She was preceded in death by her father, Byron DePauw; her grandparents, Nola and Wilbur DePauw; her grandparents, Hampton and Adra Belle Hurt; and her stepfather, Bingo Mills.
Denise is survived by her loving husband, Dobbs Johnson; her sons, Jerred Kenney of Amarillo, TX, and his wife, Sheila Kenney, along with their sons, Lane, Ben, and Sam Kenney; Matt Kenney of Canyon, TX, and his wife, Aegina Kenney, along with their children, granddaughter Sydney and grandsons Gian and Max Kenney. She is also survived by her stepdaughter, Jennifer, and her daughters, Raven and Scout, and her stepson, Brian Johnson of Austin, TX. Denise leaves behind her beloved mother, Sharon Mills of Amarillo; her sisters, Elaine Eubank of Canadian, TX, and Kim Austin of Amarillo; and her brother, Byron DePauw of Amarillo.
Denise graduated from Tascosa High School in Amarillo in 1974. A generous and kind-hearted individual, she dedicated her life to helping others and giving selflessly to anyone in need. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, deeply involved in the lives of her grandchildren, whom she adored and who affectionately called her "Neesie."
Denise spent most of her career at DePauw Construction, a business founded by her father and grandfather. She had a passion for the construction industry, enjoying discussions about dirt work, fly ash, and Caterpillar equipment. Denise considered the employees of DePauw Construction to be part of her extended family and always went above and beyond to support them.
Denise was a devout Christian and had a deep love for the state of Israel. She cherished her faith and loved sharing her love for Jesus with her grandchildren. She was known for her strong will and fierce loyalty. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at the Original Building at First Baptist Church. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Denise's legacy of generosity, love, and faith will continue to inspire and guide her family and friends. She will be forever remembered and cherished in our hearts.
