Dena Lanee Rodgers (McGowen)

Dena Lanee Rodgers (McGowen), 55, of Amarillo, entered heaven on Friday, January 17, 2025. 

Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Amarillo, Texas and Ada, Oklahoma. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. 

Dena was born on November 8, 1969, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Dara Jean Maas and Billy Dale McGowen. She loved her family, especially her kids and grandkids, all kinds of music, making handmade gifts for those she loved, and everything Mickey Mouse. 

She is preceded in death by her father, Billy Dale McGowen; father, Charles Alan Maas; brothers, Bryan Dale McGowen, Charles Alan Maas Jr. and Mark Shelton; sister, Lauren Dale McGowen; daughter-in-law, Whitney Rachelle Howard; uncles, Danny Watson and David Rhea; and all of her grandparents.

Dena is survived by her children, son, Taylor Howard and wife Melissa of Ada, Ok and daughter, Synda Rodgers of Ada, Ok; mother, Dara Maas of Amarillo, Tx; stepmother, Donna Bennett, of Oklahoma City, Ok; grandchildren, Braizley Smith, A’mari McIntire, Jackson Howard, Ja’ziah Rodgers (Easy), and Sutton Howard; sister, LeCretia McCroskey and husband Jerry of Amarillo, Tx; brothers, Dereck Maas and wife Kele of Amarillo, Tx and Dorian Bradshaw of Amarillo, Tx; aunts, Dena Bayne and husband Buddy of Easley, Sc and Charlotte Loughridge and husband David, of Tuttle, Ok, and Lisa Shelton of Oklahoma; nephews and nieces, Colby Veazey and wife Haley; Jordyn Maas; Dallas McCroskey; Sydnee Brewer; and Quintyn Maas; and great-nephews and nieces, Jayden, Koltyn, Keatyn, Kynzlee, CJ, Mataya, and Cade; cousins, Kay Lynne Doss and husband Larry of Jonesboro, AR, Dru Spurlock and wife Irma of Stratford, Tx, Brian Mason of Wilton Manors, FL; Davia Howes, of Dalhart, Tx; Michael Rhea of Dalhart, Tx; Michael Loughridge of Yukon, Ok; Will Delk of Mustang, Ok; and Angela Warren of Duncan, Ok; numerous people who were her “FRAMILY”. Those are the friends who become your family. Taylor and Synda grew up thinking they had a bunch of aunts and uncles, but lots of them were just good friends of Dena’s; and her fur babies Sheba, Cholito, and Blade.
