David Randall Cooksey

David Randall Cooksey or “Skeeter”, 64, of Dimmitt, Texas passed away on November 18, 2023.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M., Friday, November 24, 2023, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors in Amarillo, Texas with Dr. G. A. Roach officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors in Amarillo.

David was born in Crosbyton, Texas on August 18, 1959, to Leona May (Harrell) and Raymond Eugene Cooksey.

His gift to the world was his ability to invent and fix just about anything.  His work involved automotive and truck repairs and recycling.  If it had an engine, he could make it run.  It was in his nature to find solutions to anything that didn’t operate as he thought it should.  Even in his illness he wanted to go to the parts store to get an o-ring to fix his nebulizer because it leaked medicine. He really wanted to help people. These abilities and interests gained him many friends.

He spent 30 years with his ex-partner, Gwen, and loved and helped raise her two children, Karla and Tony.  Through that relationship, he loved and enjoyed her family, children and grandchildren.

The Lord has welcomed him into heaven with his profession of faith and gained a sweet angel.

David was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by: one sister, Glenda Hicks and husband Rich; two brothers, Ken Cooksey and wife, Stephanie, and Gene Cooksey; many extended family members, nieces, nephews, step-family members; and many good friends.

Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon, Texas.
