David Andrew Carruth – September 19, 2016

carruth-obit-picDavid Andrew Carruth, 70, of Groom, died Monday, Sept. 19, 2016.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Sept. 23, 2016, in Southwest Church of Christ with Brian Mashburn officiating.  Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m., in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Pampa.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

David was born Sept. 14, 1946, in Pampa to Ray and Maxine Carruth.  He graduated from Borger High School and then attended Abilene Christian before graduating from Texas A&M with an Ag economics degree.  He then served in the National Guard for 6 years.

David went to work selling insurance for Great American Reserve while living in Irving, where his first son, Cody Ray was born in 1972.  The small family moved to El Paso where his second son, Cash Andrew was born in 1977, then to Austin where Kassi Lynn was born in 1980.  David bought the Carruth Insurance Agency in Farmington, NM in 1992, and then bought the ranch at Groom in 2000, traveling back and forth for 16 years.

David married Sandy Martin on May 13, 2013, in Amarillo.

Survivors include his wife, Sandy Carruth, of the home; his mother, Maxine Carruth, of McAllen; two sons, Cody Carruth of Austin and Cash Carruth and wife Adrienne, of Bloomfield, NM; a daughter, Kassi Rohlack and husband Lance, of Round Rock; two brothers, Dennis Carruth and wife Linda, of McAllen and Dane Carruth and wife Stacy, of Waelder; a sister, Diane Farley and husband Dave, of McAllen; and seven grandchildren, Payton, Joshua, Cash Jr., Cable, Conner, Cale and Kollins; a niece, Annie Cleavinger and husband Ty; and two nephews, Clegg Carruth and Zachary Farley.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm, Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to Unique Individuals School, 7701 S. Coulter, Amarillo, Texas 79119.

  7. Our hearts are hurting, learning of David’s death. He was a breath of fresh air & one of a kind. A life long friend we will miss terribly. We pray God will wrap his loving arms around the family & bring them peace. God bless everyone.
