Dana Kay Montgomery

Dana Kay Montgomery, 68, Vega, TX died Tuesday, October 8, 2024.

The memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m., Monday, October 14, 2024, at Hillside Christian Church, 6100 S Soncy Rd., Amarillo. Burial will be private. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Kay was born October 15, 1955, in Amarillo, TX to Vernal Ross Renfro Jr. “June” and Georgia Marie Renfro. She attended school in Channing, TX and graduated from Amarillo Catholic. She married Kirk H. Montgomery on August 16, 1973, in Dalhart, TX.

For many years she worked at the John Deere House in Vega, followed by twenty years of service at Vega Independent School District where she loved giving children the smile they needed to have a great start to their day. Kay was a member of Vega Methodist Church and Hillside Christian Church (Amarillo). 

She was preceded in death by her parents, June and Georgia; her in-laws, Sis and Dick Montgomery; and sisters, Linda Twing and Marissa DeBord.

Survivors include her husband, Kirk H. Montgomery, of Vega, TX; son, Ross Montgomery and wife Windy, of Vega, TX; daughter, Michelle Montgomery of Amarillo, TX; grandchildren, Matt Montgomery and wife Meagan of Vega, TX, Mitch Montgomery and wife Morgan, of Vega, TX, Jentry White of Lubbock, TX, Jake White of Bushland, TX, Chloe Kent of Vega, TX, Jordan Chadick of Vega, TX, and Trevor Kent and wife Jacy of Amarillo, TX; and many great-grandkids, nieces, and nephews.

She loved her family and friends, and most importantly sharing her faith.
