Curtis D. Smith, passed away on May 6, 2018.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Nick Garner, associate pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

He was born January 14, 1955, in Amarillo to Norma Carroll Smith and Walter Smith.  He graduated from Los Alamos High School in 1973, and graduated from Baylor with a Bachelor’s degree in business administration.

Curtis worked as a petroleum landman for Barbee Exploration, Mesa Petroleum, American Pipeline and Questa Energy.

He is survived by his parents; his wife of 35 years, Janie Barbee Smith; his children, Sarah Smith Bowden (Cliff), Allison Smith, Barrett Smith and Aubrey Smith; grandchildren, Riley Darnell, Chloe Darnell, Logan Bowden and Colton Bowden; a sister, Shellye Ritsko (John); and nephew, Jared Ritsko.

    I’m so very sorry to hear about Curtis. He was always so nice & polite when he would come to the Moore County Clerks office to search our records. I hope you can take comfort in knowing he always spoke very highly of his family, he loved you all very much. You will be in my thoughts & prayers.

    Absolutely shocked by this news. Definitely praying for you family at this time. Way to early and way to young. Gonna miss my Baylor running buddy. Psl 34:18 tells us God is close to the brokenhearted & saves the spirit of the crushed. I’m praying God’s peace will be with ya’ll.
