Buchanan Obit PicCraig Alan Buchanan, 79, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013.
Memorial services will be at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, in St. Peter’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Robert D. Taliaferro, Rector, officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mr. Buchanan was born Feb. 11, 1934, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Gordon and Virginia Buchanan.  He served in the Army and Naval Reserves.  He married Jane Van Vyven on June 16, 1962, who preceded him in death.
He married Adelaide “Sunny” McDonald on May 1, 2003 in Amarillo.   He was in credit life insurance sales for more than 25 years.
He was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church where he was a Eucharistic minister, a member of the choir, vestry, cursillo, and was a reader.  He had also sung in the Amarillo College Choir.  He occasionally substitute taught with Sunny at St. Mary’s Cathedral Catholic Academy, and was regarded as a grandfatherly figure by the students.
Survivors include his wife, Adelaide “Sunny” Buchanan, of the home; three children, Christopher “Chris” Buchanan, of Dallas, Angeline “Angie” Arnold and husband Bobby of Wildorado and William “Bill” Buchanan and wife Amanda of Amarillo; a brother, Keith Buchanan and wife Bebe of Cincinnati; a sister, the Rev. Heather Wiseman and husband Marshall, Deacon, of Cincinnati; seven grandchildren, Ashley, Gregory, Montgomery, Grady, Preston, Ryan and Peyton; and two great-granddaughters.
The family suggests memorials be to Food for the Poor, Inc., 6401 Lyons Road, Coconut Creek, FL 33073; or to Episcopal Relief & Development, P.O. Box 7058, Merrifield, VA 22116-7058.
