Clara Ann Cowell

Clara Schacher Cowell, 82, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on September 29, 2024. 

A memorial gathering with the family will be from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M., Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Clara was born on May 9, 1942, in Tulia, Texas to Jeanette (Woelfle) and George Schacher. She graduated from Nazareth High School. After graduation, Clara attended St. Scholastica Monastery in Fort Smith, Arkansas where she served the Catholic Church as a nun for a few years. She later met Travis Eugene “Bo” Cowell, and they married on August 21, 1960, in Nazareth, Texas. 

Clara loved to take care of her home and family. She would cook three meals a day and made sure to keep a tidy home. She enjoyed going camping, skiing, drag racing, riding motorcycles, and going to the river. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Gregory Schacher, Steve Schacher, Grace Holley, and Marion Durbin; and daughter-in-law, Cindy Cowell. 

She is survived by her husband, Travis Eugene “Bo” Cowell; children, Brent Cowell, and Benita Brown and husband Kent; grandchildren, Shelby Brown Kantor and husband Jake, Neely Brown, and Taylor Cowell and fiancée Raven Landers; sister, Louise Russell and husband Donald; and sisters-in-law, Pat Warner and husband Richard, and Shirley Henderson.
