Charmian Z. Wineinger – April 24, 2012

Charmian Z. Wineinger, 92, of Amarillo died Tuesday, April 24, 2012.
A memorial service will be at 4:00 p.m., Friday, April 27, 2012 at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with James Farren officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Charmian was born March 23, 1920, in Texhoma to George W. and Rosa A. Runyan.  Her family moved to Dalhart during the depression years, where she graduated as valedictorian from Dalhart High in 1937.  She graduated from West Texas Normal College (now West Texas A & M University) in May 1941, with a major in English, a minor in Spanish, and her teaching certificate.
She married Raymond Wineinger on May 15, 1941, after meeting him at college.  Most of their married life was spent on the farm/dairy where Raymond worked on the dairy that his parents started and where he built Wineinger’s Country Pride.
Charmian traveled as a hobby- she visited every continent except Antarctica.   She also had a fascinating hobby of decorating dollhouses and creating the furniture from ordinary household objects.  One of her dollhouses took ten years to complete and filled an entire room of her home.
Charmian was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, in 2007.  Also preceding her were her infant daughter, her parents, 2 sisters, and 3 brothers.
She is survived by a son, Roger Wineinger and wife Gaye of Amarillo; a daughter, Susan Richardson and husband Raymond of Amarillo; 5 grandchildren, Scott Boyd and wife Frances of Austin, Shannon Boyd Hodnett and husband Todd of Canadian, Dagni Wineinger Brooks and husband Bill of Lubbock, Cody Carpenter and wife Jami of Austin, and Matthew Richardson and wife Marnie of Frisco; 12  great-grandchildren; a special niece, Grace Ladehoff and husband Orville; many nieces and nephews; and many friends from over the years.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the Presbyterian Children’s Home, 3400 S. Bowie, Amarillo, TX 79109, or to a favorite charity.
