Charles “Charlie” Francis Greever, III

Charlie Greever, 73, died November 15, 2018 in Amarillo, TX.

Charlie was born May 3, 1945 to Sylvia & Charles Greever, II in Evansville, Indiana and moved to Amarillo while in high school, graduating from Tascosa High School.  Charlie received his BA in Accounting from Texas Tech University and joined the US Navy upon graduation.  Charlie proudly served his country in Naval Intelligence while on active duty and further while in the US Naval Reserves retiring as a Commanding Officer in 1989.  Charlie’s career was almost entirely focused with Missouri Valley Construction Company where he retired as Vice President in 2002.  He was very proud of the positive and long-term impact Missouri Valley had on the Panhandle area.

Charlie loved the outdoors and sports and was extremely competitive.  Some of his favorite activities involved fishing, hunting, golf, skiing, tennis, and watching any sport involving a ball where they keep score on TV.  After retirement, Charlie added traveling the world with his wife, Cindy, to his passions.

Charlie was very involved in the Lake Tanglewood community where he was a member of the Lake Tanglewood Community Church and Lake Tanglewood Lions Club.  He served as LT Lions Club President, LT Golf Association President was a LT Board member for 2-terms.  He was also an active member of the Southwest AMBUCs organization which is focused on creating mobility and independence for people with disabilities.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Scott Alan.

Charlie is survived by Cindy Greever, wife of 40 years; Charles Scott Greever, son and wife Niki of Grapevine; Suzanne Greever, daughter of Austin; 2 grandsons, Cody Greever, and Travis Greever wife Courtney great-grandson, Revan.

The memorial service will be at Lake Tanglewood Community Church (106 Tanglewood Dr. #B, Amarillo, TX 79118) at 11:00am on Monday, November 19, 2018.  At the security gate, tell the attendant that you are attending this memorial service.

    It’s with sadness that I learned of Charlie’s passing. I will miss his smiling face at the trout pond in River Falls Community. My condolences to the Greever Family.
