Charles "Charlie" Alverson – October 10, 2012


Charles “Charlie” Alverson, 94, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, in Sunray.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, in Bell Avenue Church of Christ with Glen Walton, minister, officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mr. Alverson was born Sept. 17, 1918, in Nelta to Bennie and Rose Alverson.  He served in the Army during World War II.  Mr. Alverson worked at Pantex for more than 40 years.  He was in the Y Indian Guides and was a member of Bell Avenue Church of Christ and North Amarillo Church of Christ for many years.
He was a wonderful husband, dad, PaPa and friend.  Everyone loved him and said he was one of the sweetest men they had met.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine “Jerrie” Alverson.
Survivors include a son, Bill Alverson of Amarillo; a daughter, Sue Goolsby and husband Jared of Sunray; a sister, Bennie Jean Sims of Arlington; and five grandchildren, Michael Reaves, Skyler Goolsby, Colter Goolsby, Jake Goolsby and Riley Goolsby.
Special thanks to Marsha Morris, good friend and neighbor for all her help in Dad’s last few days.
