Carol Dolores Simmons

Carol D. Simmons, 86, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on September 6, 2024. 

Private family services will be held. 

Carol was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on April 12, 1938, to Dorothy Odella (Upton) and Richard Frank Green. She graduated from Neosho High School. 

Carol married Gary Simmons in 1956 in Neosho, Missouri. 

Carol worked for Amarillo National Bank, National Share Data, and the McDonald Franchisees Ron McVean and Ron McVean Jr. 

Carol loved supporting the Dallas Cowboys, The Cubs, and NASCAR. She also enjoyed shopping with her sister Linda. Carol was a breast cancer survivor. 

Carol’s pride and joy was her family. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was very compassionate and caring. She also loved poetry.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Cheryl Jane Young; sister, Linda Rae Pearson; infant brother, Richard Green Jr.; infant grandson, Michael Hanes; and two sons-in-law, Jimmy Don Hanes and Karl Young. 

She is survived by a son, Richard Simmons and wife Jennifer of Amarillo; and four grandchildren, Dylan Hanes, Jennifer Dyan Velasco, Zachary Simmons, and Katie Grace Simmons.
