Carol was born on January 4, 1935 in Shattuck, Oklahoma to Audria and Paul Sanford. She spent most of her life as a homemaker although she was a hair stylist for a time. Carol could tailor anything from men’s shirts and tailored ladies’ garments to fancy draperies. Her talent extended to any kind of needlework- embroidery, knitting, and crocheting, and her family still enjoys the many afghans she created. Carol was a member of Grace Thru Faith Fellowship. Her love of her Lord Jesus caused her to serve faithfully at each church she attended. She and her husband, Jack, went to Mexico to help with construction of a mission medical facility. She loved her grandchildren and step-grandchildren. Carol was always up for a good time! She loved to play games (Mexican Train) and sew with her grads.
She raised her children in Pampa, TX, and lived there until the sudden death of her husband, Thomas, to whom she was married for 25 years. She married Jack Derrick and moved to Dumas, TX, where they lived until Jack’s death 32 years later. Both of her husbands were pipeline welders, and she traveled all over the United States taking care of them. Along the way, she made many friends and saw lots of this beautiful country. Her family moved her to Texarkana, TX, to be closer to them where she lived until her homegoing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, older sister, Mildred Crider, older brothers, Frank and Buck Sandford, her husbands, Thomas Watson and Jack Derrick, and step-daughter, Teresa Krebbs.
She is survived by two sons, Tom Watson, and wife, Lisa, of Texarkana and Craig Watson, and wife, Nancy, of Canyon; daughter, Lisa Kenner, of Carrolton; three stepsons: Randy Derrick, of Amarillo, Dobie Derrick, and wife, Sarah, and Wendell Derrick, all of Dumas; one sister, Mary Duenkel, of Pampa; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her family is so grateful for the kind and loving care she received at the Retreat at Kenwood and the Magnolia Assisted Living facilities in Texarkana.
