Graveside services will be at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial services will follow at 4:00 p.m., at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Carol was born February 1, 1939, and raised until her teen years in El Paso, TX by her parents, Eloise and Robert Edgar. The family then moved to Amarillo, TX where Carol continued her education graduating from Amarillo High in 1956. She also attended Amarillo College to advance in her secretarial skills. For many years, she worked for several law firms in Amarillo with most of those years at Culton, Morgan, Britain and White. Other attorneys she worked with were William Countiss, Bill Brian, Maston Courtney, Don Patterson, and Don Reavis.
She married John Lacey Wright on January 10, 1959, and they remained in Amarillo to raise their family.
Above all else, Carol was a dedicated mother and wife who spent countless hours at her kid’s sporting events, never missing a single event. She was also an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for the family during the holidays and Sundays. She also loved a clean house at all times and especially treasured Saturday shopping with her daughters. One would consider her to be the June Cleaver type. Carol had a heart for all animals and especially her dogs throughout the years, Gus and Buffy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John, and a sister Gayle Betty.
Survivors include her children, Tammy Guthrie and husband Dan, and Kelly Simpson and husband Vonn, all of Amarillo, TX, and Britt Wright and wife Kristina, of Magnolia, TX; grandchildren, Brendan Wright, Conner Wright, and Jennifer Estrada; two great-grandchildren, Cristian Estrada and Gabriela Estrada; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
