Carleton Ray “Corky” Mayberry passed away on May 11, 2018. He was born in Shattuck, Oklahoma on August 13, 1939 to Ray and Sue Carleton Mayberry.
He grew up in Amarillo and graduated from Amarillo High School, where he went to state on the debate team. Corky went on to an award winning radio career in country music mainly in California. He won the Academy of Country Music’s DJ of the year in 1970.
He retired, moving back to Amarillo over 20 years ago and quietly lived out the rest of his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents and survived by sister Paula (Drew) Harvey of Pittsburgh. He also was the father of six children Joni, Jami, Ed, Jena, Paula and Tony, that survive him.
At his request there will be no services held and his body will be cremated. His family appreciates your prayers.
