Carla Arlene Gores Black – June 26, 2012

Carla Arlene Gores Black, 81, of Panhandle, went to heaven on Tuesday, June 26, 2012.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 29, 2012, at First Baptist Church of Panhandle with Pastor Josh Light officiating.  Burial will be immediately following at the White Deer Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers at Panhandle, 208 Main.
Mrs. Black was born on January 1, 1931, at the Gores’ home place in White Deer.  She grew up on a ranch, and was the youngest of ten children.  She developed a lifetime love for music while growing up in a home where her parents and siblings played fiddles, guitars, and pianos.  She learned to play the piano by ear, and would often play songs she had just listened to on the radio.
She married the love of her life, Wayne Black, on May 1, 1951, and they were married 43 years before he preceded her in death.  They raised their family in Skellytown, Eldorado and Panhandle, Texas.  Carla loved God and His Word, adored her sons, and was a gentle, compassionate grandmother.  She trusted God with all facets of her life, and taught her family to do the same.
Survivors include three sons, Randy Black and wife Paula of Panhandle, Chris Black and wife Barbara of Corpus Christi, and Gary Black and wife Debra of Wylie; a sister, Louise West of Pampa; a brother, Pete Gores and wife Senora of Pampa; 11 grandchildren, Chad Black and wife Bobbi of Amarillo, Kelly Black and wife Amber of Canyon, Brea Olson and husband Courtney of Panhandle, Kendra Cucovatz and husband David of Beverly, Massachusetts, Krissy Clark and husband Tanner of Amarillo, Summer Black of Wylie, Tiffany McLaughlin and husband Aaron of Plano,  Matt Black of Lovington, NM, Amanda Jones of Worcester, England, Alyssa Black of Austin, and Daniel Black of Corpus Chirsti; and 12 great-grandchildren (with three more on the way.)
The family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church of Panhandle, 701 Main Street  Panhandle, TX 79068; National Parkinson Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018; or to American Cancer Society, 3915 S. Bell St., Amarillo, TX 79109.
Viewing will be held from Noon to 8:00 p.m. with a family visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m, on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Boxwell Brothers in Panhandle.
