Carl Brady Guffey

July 20, 1945 — October 24, 2024

Carl Brady Guffey was born on July 20, 1945 in Wichita Falls, Texas. He went to see his Lord & Savior on October 24, 2024 at the age of 79.

Visitation will be from 6:00 - 7:00 pm, Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Memorial services will be at 1:00, Wednesday, October 30, 2024, in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount with pastor Greg Corona officiating.

Carl graduated high school in 1963 in Altus, Ok. This is where Carl began his love for bowling and racked up two perfect 300-point games as a teenager. His love for bowling continued on after he moved to Amarillo, where he bowled yet another two perfect games.

Carl has always had a heart for service. He served his country by joining The National Guard.

Carl was an avid golfer and volunteered for Special Olympics and he helped teach golf to several Special Olympics. Carl played softball for Amarillo Clippers. He was a fan of the LA Dodgers and Dallas Cowboys. Carl also worked at Rafter J’s for many years. He retired in 2023 from Plains Chevrolet/Auto Nation in the Service Department after 45 years.

Carl married the love of his life Beverly Hodges on July 13, 1985. It has been said, “The love he had for her was shown in everything he did“! That kind of love happens if you are lucky, once in a lifetime!

One of the most important milestones in Carl and Beverly’s life was when they gave their lives to the Lord in the month of April 2015 and were baptized. Carl and Beverly enjoyed bowling together and raising show dogs. Bogey, Scrappy, Maverick, and Sunny will miss Carl, but will be a much-welcomed comfort to Beverly in these days to come. We will all miss Carl’s infectious smile and laugh but know we will all be together again soon.

Carl is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Louise Guffey; his brothers, Howard, Butch, and Larry Guffey; and his sister, Ellen Miller.

Carl is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Hodges Guffey; two brothers, Charles Guffey, Houma, LA., and Gene Guffey, Dallas, TX; three sisters, Barbara Wolfe, Royse City, TX, Fran Whistler, Plano TX, and Millie Bingham, Kingwood, TX; brother-in-law, Steven Hodges and sister-in-law, Brenda Hodges; Carl leaves behind a daughter, Angelia Guffey, Amarillo, TX; and son, Kevin Guffey and wife Cindy, Hutchison, KS. Carl was blessed with six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
