Calista Marie (Heck) Huber, 91, of Canyon, Texas passed away in her home, on April 19, 2022.
Rosary service will be held at 6 P.M., Wednesday, April 27th at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home 2800 Paramount Blvd. Amarillo, Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, April 28, 11 A.M., at St Joseph’s Catholic Church 4200 Bonham. St. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, In the garden of the Holy Family.
Calista was born April 19, 1931, in Castro county Nazareth to Charles Heck Sr. and Helena Leinen Heck.
She graduated from Nazareth High School in 1950.
She Married George Edward Huber on October 9, 1950, in Holy Family Church, Nazareth. They moved to Amarillo in 1951 where they started their family of six children. Calista holds two degrees from Amarillo College, one in Dietetics and Nutritional Technology and Business Management. She also studied Interior Design and Commercial Floral Design. She worked as a food service supervisor for St. Anthony’s /BSA Hospital for over 27 years. After retirement, she volunteered at BSA Healthcare Systems.
Calista and her husband were Charter Members of St. Josephs Catholic Church. She was a member of the Alter Society, St. Veronica Circle, and Christian Mother Society. She was scout leader and den mother for troop 88 for 10 years. She also worked with Big Brothers and Big Sisters. She was an active member of American Dietetic Association; the hospital institution and Educational Food Service Society; as well as Palo Duro, Good Sam, R.V. Club, Early V8 Car Club, and Antique Car Club. She and her husband were active members of several square dance Clubs. Calista also organized the Meals on Wheels distribution of meals while working for BSA Healthcare System.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her twin sons, Howard and Harold Huber; eleven sisters, three brothers, and her husband.
Calista is survived by four children, C. Jacob Huber and wife Jona of Amarillo, Georgina Coder and husband Richard of Columbia, MO, Barbara Parker and husband Randall of San Angelo, TX, and Mark Huber and wife Valerie of Amarillo; nine grandchildren, Jolene Studebaker and husband Derek of Amarillo, Tiffany Smith and husband Chris of Amarillo, Cody Thompson of Dalhart, Jacqueline Parker of San Angelo, Joshua Parker and wife Ashley of Tuscola, Jaron Parker of San Angelo, Justin Parker of Amarillo, Austin Huber of Amarillo, and Abigail Garcia and husband Joshua Lee of Amarillo; and six great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Deloris ShaHeed for the dignity of care, companionship, and unconditional friendship she gave our mother.
