Burton Reed, 57, of Amarillo died on Thursday, May 31, 2012.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 4, 2012 at Valleyview Church of the Nazarene with Chris Patton, officiating. Military rites are by DAV Chapter 26. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mr. Reed was born on July 4, 1954 in Johnson City, New York to John and Alice Reed. He served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam and he worked at C.B. Richard Ellis as a maintenance engineer for fifteen years. Mr. Reed married Peggy Rieger on November 12, 1993 in Amarillo. He was a member of Lubbock Lip Rippers Bass Club, the Bass F.L.W. Federation and Valleyview Church of the Nazarene Church.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Reed of Amarillo; three daughters, Stacey Thompson and husband Jacob of Amarillo, Georgia Patton and husband Chris of Akron, Ohio and Holly Reed of Dallas; a son, Burton Reed, Jr. and wife Amanda of the Dallas area; a brother, Donald Reed and wife Kathy Harris of Sharon, Oklahoma; a sister, Brenda Davis and husband Lee of Kansas; five grandchildren, Aden, Ian, Sydney, Olivia, Austin and another one on the way.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Burt Reed Memorial Fund, 3301 77th Street, Lubbock, Texas 79423. This is a Youth and Conservation effort to keep youth inspired by and involved in the outdoors.
