Bruce Alan King, 50, of Amarillo died on Friday, September 28, 2012.
Memorial services will be at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Howard K. Batson, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Bruce was born on August 21, 1962 in Childress, Texas to Dean and Mary King. He graduated from Baylor University in 1985 and married Jo Laurie Marushia in July 21, 1990. Bruce was a member, choir member and deacon at First Baptist Church. He had worked as an athletic trainer at Hirschi High School for seven years then at Amarillo High School for the last twenty years.
He was preceded in death by his father, E. Dean King.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Laurie Marushia King of Amarillo; a daughter, Rebecca “Becca” Elizabeth King of Waco, where she attends Baylor University; his mother, Mary King Poynor and husband Emmett of Amarillo; a brother, Tony Glen King and wife Melinda of San Antonio; three sisters-in-law, Becky Marushia of Wichita Falls, Debby Barnett of Maryland and Sharon Parker of Azle; a brother-in-law, Pat Marushia of Idaho, nine nieces and nephews and three great nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Baylor University, general scholarship fund, One Bear Place #97026, Waco, Texas 76798-7026.
