Bobbye Walser Coffman passed away March 9, 2024, in Amarillo, Texas. She was born October 4, 1928, at home on the family farm in Medicine Mound, Texas to Escol and Erma Walser.
She married Floyd Coffman in Chillicothe, Texas on November 16, 1947. She lived most of her adult life in Amarillo, Texas where she attended First Baptist Church and sang in the Sanctuary Choir for almost 50 years and on the Living Christmas Tree for 25 years. She also worked in the children’s department at First Baptist.
She was a nurse at several places in Amarillo and retired from Amarillo Diagnostic Clinic.
Bobbye was a master at ceramics and tole painting, a motorcycle rider, and an avid gardener who had the loveliest yard. She was a “Supermom”. She was a great cook and provided doggy day care and morning coffee every day. She was a ‘mall walker’ since 1975, where she wore out more than one pair of shoes.
Bobbye was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd, and her parents Escol and Erma Walser.
She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Hutchens of Amarillo and Becky Averitt (David) of Red Oak, Texas; her grandchildren, Brian Hutchens (Megan), Scott Averitt, and Ashley Cott (Steve), great granddaughter Lucy Cott; and a brother, Don Walser of Chillicothe, Texas.
The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage Convalescent Center and BSA Hospice for their loving care.
A visitation will be held at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home at 2800 Paramount Boulevard on Thursday, March 14, 2024, from 6:00-7:00 pm. Graveside services will be held in Chillicothe, Texas at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the First Baptist Church music department.
