Bobby Jane Schultz

Bobby Willoughby Schultz, 98, of Tyler, Tx, died September 17 in Tyler. 

A memorial service will be at 11:00am on September 26 at Memory Garden in Amarillo. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Amarillo. 

Mrs. Schultz was born in Dalhart, TX, to Joe and Fay Storey on November 25, 1925. She graduated from Dalhart High School and received both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from West Texas State University. She did post-graduate work at Texas Tech, Texas A&M, and Colorado State College of Education in Greeley, Colorado. She married Joe Willoughby in 1946. He died in 1988. She later married Ray Schultz who died in December, 2001. 

Bobby taught school in Dalhart, Texline, Dumas, and Amarillo. She retired in 1982 from Amarillo High School as a counselor. During her teaching career, she was active in Texas State Teachers Association on the local, district, and state levels, serving as president of District 16 in 1975. She was an active member of Polk Street United Methodist Church. In 2005, Bobby moved to Tyler, Texas, and became a member of Marvin United Methodist Church where she was active in Sunday School and United Methodist Women. 

Survivors include son, Larry Willoughby of Taos, NM; daughter, Jane Dobervich (Brad) of Tyler; sister, Nancy Pyle of Montgomery, Tx; step-daughter, Kay Mount (John) of Seal Beach, California; two grandsons, Dustin Dobervich (Teresa) of Austin; Derek Dobervich (April) of Lindale; step-grandchildren, Matt Schultz (Emily) of Dallas, and Stephanie (Jason) Tompkins of Frisco; and great-grandchildren, Brayden and Finn of Lindale, Levi of Austin, and Ella and Charlotte of Dallas. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, sister, JoBeth Donaldson, and step-sons, Joe Schultz and Wes Schultz.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the staff at Bluebonnet Point Wellness and Heart-to-Heart Hospice.

The family suggests that memorials be made to a favorite charity.
