Bobby Edd Brooks – April 19, 2012


Bobby Edd Brooks, 84, of Amarillo, died April 19, 2012.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday, April 20, 2012 at Hart Cemetery in Hart with Dick Marcear of The Church of Christ at The Colonies officiating, where Bobby was a deacon.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Bobby was born Oct. 1, 1927 in Plainview to Robert and Jewel Matsler Brooks.  He graduated Hart High School in 1946, and attended West Texas State University.  On May 25, 1952, Bobby married Nell Armstrong Brooks.  His career included working for Dimmitt Motor Co. and Cooper Pontiac & Cadillac in Plainview.  They moved to Amarillo in 1974, to work for Garner Motors and Village Cadillac.  He owned and operated a NAPA Auto Parts store until he retired in 1995.  Bobby was in the Army National Guard where he received the Medal of Honor Marksman Award.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Craig Brooks, 8 years old; and an infant son, Edward Kirk Brooks; his parents; a brother, Ernest Lee Brooks; and a sister, Betty Armstrong.
Survivors include his wife, Nell Brooks; a daughter, Teresa Brooks Clem of Fredericksburg; a son, Rick Don Brooks of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Kristi Clem of Lubbock, Katherine Clem and Jordan Brooks, both of Addison, and Rachel Brooks of Plano.
The family deeply thanks Dr. Lim and the staff of Texas Oncology of Amarillo and the Oncology Unit staff at NWTH for the excellent care and love they extended to Bob and his family during this difficult period.
