Billy C. “Red” Hudson

Billy C. “Red” Hudson, 93, of Amarillo, TX passed away and

joined his Heavenly Father Sunday, November 6, 2022.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Park Place Towers, 1300 S. Harrison St., in Amarillo, TX located in the Parlor with Jim Benton officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Amarillo, TX 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Red was born in Moran, TX on September 14, 1929, to Estelle and Charlie Hudson.

Red graduated from Sunray High School in 1947 where he played on the first six-man football team.  He married Mary Vivian “Johnnie” Schindler on November 7, 1948.

Even though he told his mother, “he was out of this no tree barren country,” Red lived in the Texas Panhandle his entire life, working for Diamond Shamrock from 1947 until retiring in 1987.

Red married Betty J. Jameson in Amarillo, TX on July 13, 2001, and moved to Amarillo in September 2001.  He was a member of First Baptist Church.

Red enjoyed all sports and loved to play pool at the Senior Citizens.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, “Johnnie” Vivian Hudson in 1992; sister; Faye Patterson; son, Bud Hudson; daughter, Reba Richardson; grandchildren, Jeff Richardson and Brett Hudson.

Survivors include his wife, Betty, of the home; sister, Vernell Hale Carden, of Shamrock, TX; brother Mack Hudson and wife Thyra, of Elkhart, KS; sons, Rex Hudson, of Amarillo, TX, Mark Jameson and wife Kaye, of Shamrock, TX; son-in-law, Bobby Joe Richardson of Dumas, TX; daughter-in-law, Gracie Sizemore, of Garden City, KS; grandchildren, April of Amarillo, TX; Kayla and husband Larry Don of Fritch, TX; Travis and wife Amanda of Dallas, TX; Vivian of Dallas, TX; MaeLee of Dallas, TX; Lane and wife Toni of Midland, TX; and numerous great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to The Jeff and Reba Richardson Memorial Scholarship Fund, First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 395, Dumas, TX 79029, (806) 935-7200.
