Beverly Jane Turner, 95, of Plano, TX died Sunday, November 3, 2024.
Services will be at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Beverly was born December 8, 1928, in Jet, Oklahoma to Harold and Trella (Auras) Corbet. She graduated from Oklahoma A&M University in Stillwater (now Oklahoma State University) in 1951. While attending college she met fellow student and love of her life, Victor Turner.
Beverly graduated and began her teaching career in Fairfax, Oklahoma. After her first year, she married Victor on May 29, 1952 and relocated to Amarillo. There Beverly taught in various public schools in the city for 39 years including Robert E. Lee, Hilltop, Pleasant Valley, and Hamlet. Additionally, she taught private kindergarten at St. Paul’s Methodist Church. She and Victor were active at Trinity United Methodist Church in Amarillo. In 1953, they welcomed their only child, daughter Patricia Mirian.
After retirement, Beverly and Victor relocated to Plano to be with their daughter and her family in 1998 and spent three years in the Seattle area while continuing to follow her daughter's family, eventually returning to the Plano area in 2002. During her time in Plano, she became a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Plano. Beverly always gave generously to others, looking for opportunities to donate anonymously to those around her that needed it most.
She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Trella Corbet, her brother Bob Corbet, her husband Victor, 2 step-children Richard Turner and Neva Alford, niece Ceci Corbet of Amarillo and niece Janet Bookout.
Survivors include her daughter Patricia and husband Rodney Thompson of Plano, her grandchildren Jonathon Thompson and wife Amanda of Wiley, Trey Thompson of Plano, and Monica Thompson of Dallas, Larissa and Ryan Hazelwood of Florissant Colorado, Jamie Thompson of Amarillo, 5 grandchildren, and 2 great, grand-children, and sister-in-law Ruth Turner of The Woodlands. Additional survivors include her nieces Ginger Grotts and husband Hal and Cherry Frailey and husband James, both of Norman Oklahoma, and nephew Dee Griffin III of Dallas, niece Jean Turner of Mandeville Louisiana, and a cousin, Robert Auras of Missoula, Montana.
The Family asks for donations in her honor to be made to Cal Farley’s Boy’s Ranch.
