Beverly was born on May 7, 1934, in Dallas, Texas to Henry Hill and Vivian Lee Bates Storey. The family moved to Abilene soon thereafter. Years passed and J. B. Jordan married Vivian and served as more than a stepfather to Beverly. Beverly married the love of her life, Burl Peterson, on January 7, 1952, and then graduated from Abilene High School the same year. They were married for 64 years. She and Burl owned and ran Dyess Testing Laboratory for many years.
Beverly loved peacocks, was an avid, award-winning quilter, and enjoyed machine embroidering. She was a member of Golden Spread Quilters and loved to gift her family and friends her works of art. Beautiful peacocks have been a permanent fixture at her home and her grandchildren loved to feed them and collect their feathers. She was proud to be a resident of Amarillo, Texas for over 60 years and considered it home.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Vivian, and her husband Burl who passed away in 2016 following a tragic car accident.
She is survived by her 5 children, Brenda Peterson of Acworth, GA; Rae Ann Skaggs of Buda, TX; Belinda Rivas and husband Charlie; Cindy Peterson; Lee Peterson and wife Dalana, all of Amarillo, TX, as well as 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
